What Is Homeopathy?Homeopathy is a natural or alternative system of health care, and considered a CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine) modality. It has been practiced worldwide for over 200 years. It is widely used in Europe, India, and Central & South America. Homeopathy was brought to the USA in 1825. The American institute of Homeopathy (AIH) was founded in 1844. It was a popular form of American health care for a century, and later experienced a revival in the 1970s. This was during the birth of the ‘back to the land’ movement, with many becoming concerned about pollution and the environment, as well as natural methods of health care (such as organic foods, natural birth methods, herbs, organic gardening, homeopathy, physical fitness). We’ve seen the myriad effects of toxic chemicals in our air, water and food. And add to this the toxicity of many Rx and over-the-counter drugs. Many people are learning to make healthier choices and to advocate for a cleaner environment.
